Closing and reopening a survey

Open your admin dashboard and use the Close survey button near the top. Confirm, and respondents immediately stop being able to submit; the survey link shows a closed message to anyone who opens it afterward.

What closing does

Closing only stops new submissions. Every answer already collected stays on your dashboard exactly as it was, and you can keep reading results from a closed survey for as long as you like. Closing doesn't touch the survey's title or questions either.

The button asks you to confirm before it does anything, since there's no separate undo step afterward beyond reopening it. Anyone who opens the survey link once it's closed sees a plain message saying the presenter has ended the session, rather than the questions.

Closed and expired are different messages

A survey you closed yourself shows respondents a "closed" message. A free survey that stopped collecting because its 7 days ran out shows a different "expired" message instead, even though both mean the same thing to you as the creator: no new answers. The distinction only matters if you're trying to work out which one happened, since a closed survey can be reopened by you at any time, while an expired one can only take new answers again if the 7-day window itself is lifted.

Reopening

The same button becomes Reopen survey once a survey is closed. Reopening turns submissions back on, with one limit: a free survey only ever takes answers for 7 days from when it was originally created, and closing and reopening doesn't reset that clock. If those 7 days have already passed, reopening won't actually let the survey collect anything new, and the dashboard tells you so instead of offering the button. Starting a fresh round instead

If what you actually want is to run the same questions again rather than reopen an old survey, create a new survey with the same title and questions. It gets its own link and its own 7-day window, and its results won't mix with the survey you closed.

Archiving is not the same as closing

Your account's survey list has a separate Hide from this list action on each survey. Archiving only affects what you see in that list; it doesn't close the survey, doesn't stop it collecting answers, and doesn't touch its link. Use Close survey when you want respondents to actually stop being able to submit, and archiving when you just want an old survey out of your way.
