The 7-day free window

Updated 2026-09-02

A survey with no active subscription behind it collects responses for 7 days, starting from the moment it was created. After that, the survey stops taking new answers.

What expiry stops, and what it does not

Expiry stops collection only. It does not delete anything. Every response already submitted stays in place, and the results stay fully readable on your admin dashboard, exactly as they were the moment the window closed. A respondent who opens the link after expiry sees a message telling them the survey is closed, and their attempted answer is not recorded.

Surveys with an active subscription

A survey owned by an account with an active subscription has no expiry clock at all: it keeps collecting for as long as you leave it open, with no 7-day limit. This applies to surveys you already had when you subscribed, too; subscribing clears the clock on every survey you own at that moment, not only ones you create afterward.

If you cancel

Cancelling does not touch responses you already have, and it does not end collection immediately either. Instead, any survey that had no expiry clock because of your subscription gets a fresh 7-day window starting from the day you cancel, so collection continues for a week before it stops. A survey that already had its own expiry clock running (one that had already stopped collecting before you cancelled) is left as it is; cancelling does not shorten or extend it.

Reopening an expired survey

An expired survey cannot be reopened to collect more responses on the free plan. Reopening a survey after its window has closed is part of the paid plan. Closing a survey yourself and an expired survey behave differently here: a survey you closed on purpose can be reopened for free, an expired one cannot.

What a respondent sees

Someone who opens the link to an expired survey sees a message telling them the survey is closed. Nothing is submitted, and nothing about that attempt is recorded. If you are the one seeing that message on your own survey, it means the window has closed, not that the link is broken.

The clock starts at creation, not at first response

The 7 days are counted from when you clicked create, not from when your first respondent opened the link. A survey you build now and share three days later already has four days of its window left when the first answer comes in, not a fresh seven. If you plan to share a survey some time after making it, build it closer to when you intend to send it out.
